Joomla Connector Setup Guide

Prerequisites

  • You must have admin access to your Joomla site (version 4 or higher).
  • Ensure your site supports the Web Services feature (built into Joomla 4+).

Step 1: Enable Web Services

  1. Log in to your Joomla admin panel.
  2. Go to System β†’ Manage β†’ Plugins.
  3. Search for API - Web Services (or System - Web Services) and enable it.
  4. This allows external platforms like SearchAtlas to publish articles through Joomla’s API.

Step 2: Create an API User

  1. Go to Users β†’ Manage β†’ Add New User.
  2. Create a dedicated user (for example, api_user).
  3. Assign the user a group with permission to create and edit Articles (usually Author or higher).

Step 3: Generate an API Token

  1. While logged in as the API user, go to User Menu β†’ Edit Profile β†’ API Token.
  2. Click Generate New Token.
  3. Copy the token shown β€” this will be used for authentication.

Step 4: Share Your Connection Details

Provide the following information so we can publish content for you:

  • Site URL (e.g. https://example.com)
  • API Token (the one you generated)

We’ll use your token as a Bearer token when sending content to your Joomla site.

Your Joomla site is now ready for publishing through SearchAtlas.
